» Was born and raised in a very loving family. He's exceptionally close to his father and loves his mother to pieces. He was always protective of his siblings growing up, no matter the age difference. He's one of those people who believes strongly that blood is thicker than water, and you have no greater ally than those in your own family. Whether others choose to believe that or not is on them, not him.
» He spent the majority of his young life in San Diego, California. Born and basically raised there. He loves San Diego like very few places in the world, it's always been home.
» Jamie has been living in Las Vegas, Nevada as his main residence since he was 22, though he makes frequent trips back to San Diego to visit his family. He never misses a family get-together if he can help it. He also has a place in Pennsylvania where he stays now days, more often, when he's not racing.
» He got interested in motorcross and dirt biking from a very early age. He thought that it was a fun pastime but that pastime soon turned into passion, and that passion soon kindled into motivation. He just never knew he could do it for the rest of his life or make it a career.
» Jamie started racing when he was 10 years old. He turned pro when he was 18. He spent pretty much all of his time that he wasn't focusing on his studies for schooling on his bike.
» Was the first person ever to land a backflip on a motorcross bike. That moment in the summer of 2000 (Gravity Games in Providence, Rhode Island), literally a month or so, give or take, after he went pro, landing a move like that was considered unheard of. It was a bold move, a somewhat stupid move, a huge gamble of 'make or break', but it paid off. That put him on the map and made him one of the attractions to watch in freestyle motorcross. From that point on the name 'Jamie Buchanan' was embodied with motorcross along with other greats like James Stewart, Jeremy McGrath, and Travis Pastrana. Though Jamie strives to be an original, as best he can, being compared to these guys is a huge honor for him.
» Due to his balls out, no fear attitude, Jamie has broken well over 40 bones in his body at just turning 28 years of age. And this number is sadly expected to climb. He really defines what it means to be fearless, or he tries to be, whenever he gets on his bike to ride or compete. He knows that fear in yourself transpires to fear in your game and that's how people get hurt. So he tries to shake his nerves before even getting on his bike. He's usually successful in this. He has his pre-race/pre-competition rituals that involve listening to music, meditation, kick boxing, and sometimes even getting ink done. Depends on his feeling, really.
» One of his favorite songs to get him pumped for a competition or a race is "Welcome To The Jungle" by Guns N Roses. That song pumps him up every single time, even now, after years of using as HIS song.
» Aside from motocross he's a big fan of tattoo art. He's literally covered in ink from head to toe. It's another thing he's passionate about and it shows. He's part of a partnership of a tattoo parlor in Vegas and one in Philadelphia called Air Buchanan Ink which is named after his signature motorcross move. He has been known to ink, having a license and the ability to do so, but he's always hanging around those shops just because he enjoys the environment when he's not on the race track or doing some other sort of media 'circus' that goes along with his lifestyle. He leads a busy, yet satisfying life, in accordance to himself.
» Jamie loves going to shows. He loves music and hits as many concerts as he can or as his schedule allows. He's big fans of bands like Waking Midnight, having met the guys a few times, as well as the guys in Orrion. Jamie's become friends with Shane and the boys because of the DCMA family, which Jamie is a big part of being really good friends with Tal Cooperman. He listens to all kinds of music though, he's not picky. If it's got a good sound and good lyrics he'll enjoy it.
» He frequents UFC events and things like that, also. He loves competition and he's also had his hand at a little kick boxing, mixed martial arts, and training when he has time. He enjoys being physical. He frequents the gym because of his need for something to do in a positive manner too, as well as just going for random off-road rides on his bike.
» One thing Jamie is also well known for is his temper. He has a very low tolerance for stupid shit. He's learned to keep himself from going off on every thing that pisses him off through channeling his anger into something positive. But he still slips up now and then. He's dealt with a number of law suits and/or times in holding cells because of his short fuse.
» He's incredibly stubborn. That's probably Jamie's worst quality because he can't really change that. He's set in his ways and really has trouble with compromising with people.
» Aside from that, he's a laid back and generally good spirited person. While he has flaws, over all, he's a good person. He does a lot of charity work where he can, and if he can't volunteer a lot of his time, he donates money to charities he believes in. His favorite charities are the American Humane Society, St. Jude's Hospital, and the Make A Wish Foundation. He also supports the PETA 'Fur Is Dead' Campaign to stop the cruelty and maltreatment of animals for fashion.
» Jamie is a vegetarian, with the mindset 'If I wouldn't eat my pets, I have no reason to eat other animals'. But just because that's his personal choice, he doesn't push it on others. He doesn't care what other people do, as long as it's not him.
» Has three dogs, that are basically like his kids. They're spoiled as hell, since Jamie doesn't have kids of his own so they're it.
» Is currently making his residence in Pennsylvania rather than Vegas at this point, taking a few weeks off from racing just to give his body a chance to rest. He's been hanging out a lot more at Air Buchanan Philadelphia, inking and getting to know the people who work at AB:Philly since he's more familiar with the guys at AB:Vegas. The rest period was exactly what Jamie needed though.
